PBPC Family,
Indulge me for a moment. I'm a sucker for global sporting events; the Olympics and the World Cup are the main ones. This week, the World Cup begins, with games happening in our own backyard (Santa Clara) and all across North America. This World Cup is not without drama - the ongoing conflict between the US, Iran, Israel and other countries in the Middle East casts a shadow over these games. Yet, I'm always struck how these games can be opportunities to rise above geopolitical conflicts and provide connections across lines of culture, language, religion, and ethnicity.
Christianity Today had an article yesterday on 14 World Cup players who are outspoken in their Christian faith. It was fun to read and consider how the Church can be present and a witness in the World Cup.
Let us be in prayer for the games, the athletes, for safety for the fans, and for God's Spirit of peace to be at work in and through the World Cup.

Church Spring Cleaning
We've been clearing out closets and there's a load of things on our stage that are potential give aways. We invite the congregation to look through the items on the stage and let us know if there is anything worth keeping. Please do so by June 10 so we can work on finding a home for all of it.
Food Pantry - June 10
Our next food pantry is scheduled for Wednesday June 10 from 5:00-6:00pm. If you'd like to help pack bags, please arrive by 4:30pm.
