6.23.2026 PBPC Family Bulletin
PBPC Family,
This week, the PC(USA) General Assembly begins, first with committees meeting online and then an in person gathering in Milwaukee. The General Assembly runs from June 22 to July 2.
General Assembly happens every 2 years and is our national gathering where commissioners from each Presbytery attend as delegates to vote on a variety of issues, including but not limited to, governance, theology, mission, and practice. It is similar to a gathering of the U.S. House of Representatives. Just as districts elect a representative to go to Washington D.C. to make bills, pass legislation and advocate for issues in their district, so too do Presbyteries elect commissioners to serve as representatives at General Assembly.
There are a number of important issues before the General Assembly this week. For an overview, Presbyterian Outlook (the Presbyterian Magazine) has a great (and free!) document outlining the docket. They will also provide updates throughout General Assembly so be sure to check back regularly.
I encourage you to pray for these proceedings. Pray that God's Spirit would give wisdom to those entrusted with voting, that there would be cooperation, understanding, and grace in hard conversations, and that whatever comes would serve to advance God's Kingdom!
Looking forward to worshipping with you on Sunday!
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Calvin
