PBPC Family, Our annual meeting is scheduled for Sunday, January 29 immediately following the service. You can participate in the meeting either in person or via Zoom. Our annual meeting is a wonderful opportunity for us to reflect on the past year of ministry and celebrate what God has done in our midst. We will have a chance to review our giving and expenses for 2022 and discuss our 2023 budget. Members of Session will also share with the congregation our priorities for 2023. At the meeting, we will provide copies of our annual report. We will also distribute it via email in next week's newsletter. We will also have an updated birthday list and directory for your records. As I have said on Sunday, all are welcome to attend the meeting and all have a voice. When it comes to any voting matters, only those who are members may vote. I hope to see you there on January 29! PBPC Family, If you didn't know, tomorrow is the beginning of "Week of Prayer for Christian Unity." You can find more information on this event HERE . This is an annual event that is hosted by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). I have actually never heard of this event, but I purchased a calendar that had it marked and I was intrigued. Park Boulevard Presbyterian Church is already working towards Christian Unity through its mission partnerships with local organizations like Intervarsity, Harbor House, Young Life, and City Team. Through our international partnerships, we are connected to numerous denominations outside the PC(USA). And in our life together, through our worship, fellowship, and friendship, we witness to the God who has united us in the face of forces that threaten to pull us apart. PBPC Family, One of the *many* projects we have on our docket for 2023 is to clean out our closets. One of the gifts of PBPC is that we have had the resources to purchase what we need and the room to store it. One of the challenges of PBPC is that we have had the resources to purchase what we need and the room to store it! In an effort to be good stewards of our building, we will be systematically cleaning out closets. What began with the choir room (which is still a work in progress) will continue into other rooms throughout the church. As we begin this work, I'd like to ask two things of you: If you are willing to volunteer time and energy, we'd love help in sorting through things, keeping what's worthwhile, and tossing what needs to go. PBPC Family, Happy new year! I'm always surprised how the turning of a calendar page (or purchasing a new calendar altogether) can infuse me with energy and excitement for what lies ahead. I similarly pray and hope that, whatever has happened in the last year, you will be surprised by God in exciting and fresh ways. With a new year, I want to give you a sense of where we are heading for the year. We will have more details to share at the Annual Meeting (January 29 following the service) but here are a few things on the horizon. Preaching Plan : From now through Easter, we will follow Jesus through Matthew's Gospel. After Easter, we will read through 1 Peter, which will take us all the way to Pentecost. Come summertime, the lectionary spends a significant amount of time in Romans - I'm leaning towards jumping into this dense but important theological work. In the fall, we will either explore some OT texts or return to Matthew to spend more time with Jesus. That will take us ...
