PBPC Family, Thanks to those who helped out with the sanctuary decoration yesterday. We  are looking good so no help needed today! Happy Thanksgiving week to everyone - I hope you have a wonderful time with friends, family, or a day to yourself if that's what your soul needs. This upcoming Sunday is the beginning of Advent and there is a lot going on at PBPC this month. Take a moment to grab your calendar and mark the following dates so you don't miss out! December 1 - Advent Wreath Making at Corpus Christi from 9:00am-10:00am. Stop by their gym before worship to make an advent wreath for home before coming to PBPC. December 1 - Communion + Potluck. We will worship in the cafe and share a potluck meal together and have a congregational conversation. PBPC Family, This Sunday is Christ the King Sunday, the end of the Christian calendar and a reminder that behind, above, below, and through everything, Christ is King. Empires rise and fall, individuals come into power and pass away, governments change hands from one political party to the next and Christ reigns. The ins and outs, ups and downs of our daily lives has no bearing on Christ's rule over all the world. It is a sure and sturdy truth that can only be apprehended by faith. This is a doctrine of the church that goes back to it' first proclamation. When early Christians declared Christ is Lord, embedded in this was a hidden declaration; if Christ is Lord, Caesar is not. Christ's Kingship was the heartbeat of the early church and it is a doctrine that continues to give us life, confidence, and hope. PBPC Family, It was such a joy to have many of you come by and see our new home after church on Sunday. We are so grateful and thankful for Park Blvd's help in providing down payment money to purchase the home. For those who weren't able to come, Ginnie Daniel shared a bit of history on PBPC's Pastor's Housing Fund. In the early 90's, before Carl Hoffman was called as pastor, a few members donated funds to help their pastor (unknown at the time) purchase a home. They recognized that housing in the Bay Area could be expensive and they wanted to help alleviate stress their pastor might feel in finding a home. They wanted to give their pastor the freedom to put down roots and do ministry. Since then, PBPC has helped four pastors (including myself) purchase homes. The funds are given to the pastor with an equity share agreement, meaning when the home sells, the church is able to share in the equity growth. This has allowed the fund to grow with the market.
