As part of our training, I had to instruct the students as to the dress code for our team while we were in the villages doing our work: boys had to wear long pants and girls had to wear dresses, even though it was often very hot and dusty and we would be playing with a bunch of active children. I often experienced pushback from my students – why would God care if we wore pants instead of shorts? I had to explain that we dressed a certain way not because God disapproves of shorts, but because we represented Jesus and didn't want our message to be compro...

I had an experience some time ago where a new pastor was introduced at a presbytery meeting; he was starting out at a church I was familiar with and from some of the things he said I thought that he would be someone that I could connect and perhaps be friends with. So during a break in the meeting I approached him and introduced myself.
