8.15.2023 PBPC Family Bulletin

PBPC Family,

One of the beautiful things about belonging to a denomination (ours is the PC(USA), in case you didn't know) is that our extended network and collective resources allow us to respond quickly when disasters and needs arise.

HERE is an article on how the PC(USA) is responding to the wildfires in Hawaii. I was particularly encouraged to hear that the Red Cross has asked to PDA (Presbyterian Disaster Assistance) to be on standby with a team of spiritual care providers. These will be some of the few people that the authorities will allow into Lahaina during these first few weeks of recovery efforts.

As the above article notes, one of the best things we can do right now is pray. This will be a long-term recovery for Lahaina and those who live in Maui - let us be in prayer for first responders, relief workers, and the many volunteers who are searching for loved ones and beginning the long work of recovery.

If you would like to donate to the PDA, there is a link at the bottom of the above article.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Calvin
