PBPC Family,
Happy new year! I'm always surprised how the turning of a calendar page (or purchasing a new calendar altogether) can infuse me with energy and excitement for what lies ahead. I similarly pray and hope that, whatever has happened in the last year, you will be surprised by God in exciting and fresh ways.
With a new year, I want to give you a sense of where we are heading for the year. We will have more details to share at the Annual Meeting (January 29 following the service) but here are a few things on the horizon.
- Preaching Plan: From now through Easter, we will follow Jesus through Matthew's Gospel. After Easter, we will read through 1 Peter, which will take us all the way to Pentecost. Come summertime, the lectionary spends a significant amount of time in Romans - I'm leaning towards jumping into this dense but important theological work. In the fall, we will either explore some OT texts or return to Matthew to spend more time with Jesus. That will take us all the way to Advent, to start the whole year over again.
- Quarterly events. At our Day of Discernment, we decided to do one event, class, or learning lab each quarter. Plans will be underway for 4 events, once a quarter. More information to come.
- New Members Class. At some point this year (TBD) we will have a class for anyone who might be interested in joining Park Blvd and becoming a member. More information to come.
- Deepened Partnerships. Look forward for more ways we will deepen our partnerships with our current mission partners and other Oakland/Bay Area congregations.

As a reminder, if you cannot greet on the day you are assigned, you are responsible for coordinating with someone to cover for you!

We've updated our yearly Birthday list, correcting some birthdays that were wrong and including birthdays of those who weren't on previous lists. HERE's the list - if your name (or someone you know) is missing, let me know so we can add it to the list.
Food Pantry - January 11
Our next food pantry is scheduled for today, January 11 from 5-6pm. Please note the time change - we've moved it an hour earlier because of the shortening daylight. Please arrive at 4:30pm to help set up. If you'd like to help, you can register HERE.
Harbor House Gardening
The prayer garden is almost complete! That hasn't stopped weeds from begging to sprout and pop up. Harbor House has asked PBPC to provide monthly weeding the 4th week of the month. Sign up to help HERE.
