1.9.2024 PBPC Family Bulletin

PBPC Family,

From now through Easter, we will be journeying with Jesus in the Gospel of Mark. Mark might be my favorite Gospel - it reads like a fast paced, thrilling story. One of Mark's favorite words is "immediately." It's as if he jumps from scene to scene, trying to keep up with Jesus' frenetic ministry. For our modern world with shortened attention spans, Mark is a good entry into the story of Jesus.

Because it is the shortest, it is also the easiest to read in one sitting. I encourage you to set aside an hour or two and try to read the Gospel of Mark in one sitting. Familiarizing yourself with the grander narrative and movement of Mark will give you deeper insight and appreciation of our Sunday scriptures; we will jump around and won't be reading chronologically.

If you are looking for a helpful resource to get deeper into Mark's unique witness to Jesus, I recommend The Theology of the Gospel of Mark - this short and concise book is a good introduction.

I look forward to coming to know Jesus more through Mark's gospel. See you Sunday!

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Calvin

HERE is the Greeter Schedule for 2024. It will also be at the bottom of each Tuesday Newsletter. This year, we have also have automated reminders that will be sent out on Wednesday. With the number of people we have on our list, it leads to most people only serving as greeter 2 times a year. If you are unable to be a greeter on your Sunday, please find someone to swap with you. If your name is not on the list and you would like to be included, please let me know and I'll add you to the list!

Food Pantry - January 10
Our next food pantry is Wednesday, January 10 from 5-6pm in the PBPC parking lot. If you'd like to serve, please arrive by 4:30pm.

Our Annual Meeting will be held January 28 immediately following the service. An Annual Report and approved 2024 Budget will be provided at the meeting. We will also elect new deacons and elders for 2024. All are welcome to attend and voice their opinions; only members will be able to vote. Following the meeting, we will have a potluck meal.
