9.5.2023 PBPC Family Bulletin


PBPC Family,

Thank you to everyone who contributed time, energy, or stuff for the Rummage Sale - it was a huge church effort and I'm so grateful for everyones' participation. A huge thank you to everyone who prayed for the event, spread the word, donated items to be sold, helped set up and organize on Friday, served during the sale on Saturday, or helped clean up on Sunday. We raised over $2600 for City Team! We hospitably welcomed many neighbors into our building! And we got rid of a lot of stuff that was piling up in our closets! Numerous people asked us if we were going to do this event next year. I'm not ready to commit to this again, but I am glad we did it.

On another note, during Sunday's sermon, I shared snippets from a poem by Wendell Berry. A few of you asked me for info on the poem. It is titled, "Manifesto: The Mad Farmer Liberation Front." I commend the entire poem to you.

Lectionary Readings for September 13

Glenview Ice Cream Social: September 10 from 1-4pm
The Glenview Neighborhood Association is hosting an Ice Cream Social on Sunday September 10 from 1-4pm at the Hollywood Triangle. Volunteers are needed - click HERE to volunteer.

Food Pantry: September 13 from 5-6pm
Our next food pantry is scheduled for September 13 from 5-6pm. Please arrive at 4:30pm to help set up. If you'd like to help, you can register HERE.

Pet Blessing: September 17
As part of our celebration of the Season of Creation (more on that in next week's email) we will bless our pets during worship. You can bring your pet with you or a picture!

Worship at First Pres Berkeley: September 24
We will join other Presbyterian Churches in worshipping at First Pres Berkeley on September 24 at 10:00am. If you need help getting a ride to church that day or would like to participate in a joint choir, please email me at pastor@pbpc.org.
