PBPC Family,
Today, I want to provide a financial update for the first quarter of the year. Here's the good news: as of the end of March, our expenses are under budget by $1,200. This includes a few unexpected expenses including installing a security gate after the treasurer's office was vandalized. As a church,we've learned to do a lot with a little. We continue to support our mission partners, and our monthly food pantry continues to provide food for 60+ households. We've submitted a grant to support Eikon's Bodega to provide essential resources for others. Our Good Futures team is discerning new possibilities for ministry. We are close to executing a lease with Berkeley Rose Waldorf School and welcoming their program onto our campus. And we've welcomed new visitors who are becoming regular attendees. There is much to celebrate here at PBPC.
Some not-so-great news. Our pledged giving is 75% of what we've budgeted thus far. Because of this, we've had to draw more from our Major Gifts fund than expected at this point in the year. We will be okay - we have plenty of reserves to weather this season. But we plan our budget each year around what has been pledged to PBPC. This church has existed for so many years because of the faithful, regular giving of so many people. Please continue to give as you have. We understand that circumstances change and things have been difficult this year; global events have directly impacted our pocketbooks. If things have changed for you and you're not sure you can give as you pledged, please let Ginnie know at accounting@pbpc.org. This will help us better manage the budget throughout the year.
I want to end with a few pieces of good news. Unpledged giving (gifts received in Sunday's offering, from visitors, or from those who did not pledge) is over 350% of what we've budgeted for the year. We are seeing new regular givers support our mission and ministry. Praise be to God!
Finally, as mentioned, we are also close to executing a lease with Berkeley Rose Waldorf School. Although income won't arrive for a few months once the lease is signed, this will help us balance our budget in 2027.

Project Peace Day of Service - May 2
Project Peace is hosting its next Day of Service on Saturday May 2 from 9am-12pm. Register to serve at a local site HERE. There are plenty of spots still available!
Communion + Potluck Sunday
Join us for worship in the Cafe. We will receive communion and following the service, we will have a potluck. Please bring a dish, dessert, or drink to share!
Mission Possible Game - May 3
After service, during our potluck, on May 3, we will be playing a social design game called Mission Possible. A small team of people have been working through a Good Future's curriculum that is helping us discern the next steps for our church. This game is an important part of that process for us.

To help us stay on top of our building, we have created a Request Form. If you see something that needs to be replenished, or if there are missing supplies, please fill this out and return it to Darshania. Printed copies will also be available in the Narthex.
New Members Class - May 17
We will host a class for new members on Sunday May 17 after service from 12:00-3:00pm. Lunch will be provided. If you are interested, please let Calvin know at pastor@pbpc.org.
