PBPC Family, Thanks to everyone who stuck around after service for our conversation on the lease we are negotiation with New City Church. I was grateful for everyone's honesty and willingness to share and listen well to one another. My experience of PBPC is there is a deep desire for every voice to be heard, everyone to be included, and for us to move forward in following God together. This is not always easy, but it is good. If you missed the conversation or would like to discuss things further, I'd love to connect. You can send me an email at pastor@pbpc.org and we can find a time to further talk! This Sunday, we will be joined in worship by some friends from First Pres Berkeley. They cannot access their church building due to the Berkeley Half Marathon and so they are worshipping with other congregations around the Bay Area. Looking forward to worshipping with you on Sunday! Grace and Peace, Pastor Calvin "The Shepherd God" Jeremiah 23:1-6 Calvin Sodestrom Pre-Ser...

PBPC Family, This Sunday, I will be sharing with PBPC the message I preached at MVPC last week - about how justice is central to God's heart and what that means for us as followers of Jesus. We have a connection to Jamaica - Robin (Rory's husband) is from there and has family members who still live there and have been impacted. Pray for widows and orphans in Ukraine, Gaza, Israel, Sudan, and Nigeria, among other places where violence and conflict are present. Pray for the widows in our congregation. Pray for those who have lost their parents, whether young or old. Pra...

PBPC Family, Sunday was bittersweet as we celebrated Amber's time at PBPC and blessed her as she begins a new job and journey. A huge thank you to Paula for the delicious cakes, and Chris, Brendan, Kristina, Sylvia, and Suhag for helping set up and clean up the reception. It was a wonderful time together after the service. This upcoming Sunday is a Communion Sunday and we will meet in the Cafe for worship, followed by a potluck. Pastor Brandon Morrow from Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church will preach and lead the service. I will be preaching at Moraga Valley and hope to catch you all at the end of the potluck. I will miss worshipping with you all! As many of you well know, Friday is Halloween. Every year, I'm asked if its okay for Christians to celebrate Halloween. I always return to quotes by Martin Luther who taught that the best way to deal with the Devil was to mock him and make little of him. Here are a few quotes from Martin Luther. "The best way to drive out the dev...
